About

Welcome to this corner of the world wide web! I’m a freelance cellist from “Minneapolis” living on Dakota land. My primary teachers growing up were cellists Suzanne Lane, Mina Fisher, and Thomas Rosenberg, who prepared me to study music at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. In 2018, I graduated from the studio of Tanya Remenikova with a Bachelor’s of Music, double majoring in Cello Performance and English Literature. Since then, I’ve performed across the U.S., Mexico, Spain, and England, collaborating with many musicians locally and internationally.

In the past couple of years, I’ve played with the Delphia Cello Quartet as a rotating member, as a performing artist for Thursday Musical, and as a session musician. I taught extracurricular music/strings through Saint Paul Public Schools and have been teaching cello as a private instructor at the City of Lakes Waldorf School since 2016, and as the String Ensemble assistant there since 2022. As of March 2023, I also teach lessons at Twin Town Guitars.

I’m so happy to have found myself deeply connected with fellow artists rooted in the Twin Cities, experimenting endlessly with live performance and recorded work. I take particular interest in extended string techniques for my own compositions and songwriting, and I draw thematic and textural inspiration from many places, like: the space between you and me, drugstores, water, inner worlds, funny feelings of monotony and comfort tied up in consumerism, movies, futility and sincerity, recurring dreams, opacity and translucence, spiritual beings. My work is a product of my apprenticeship and intuition and desires, a meld of classical and popular idioms and acoustic and electronic instruments spun like a cord. Though primarily a cellist, I’ve messed around on synthesizer and guitar since 2018. These instruments (plus a potent dose of grief, stress, and boredom soothed only by the great Expanse of music) have colored my sound palette infinitely, for which I’m grateful.

In fall 2021, I joined Minneapolis-Saint Paul-based record label, Aura Vortex Records, and released an album from my lo-fi bedroom pop/synth pop/indie rock project Spaceport on March 3, 2023.
